Chrome Ore
Chromite has been known since the end of the 18th century but couldn’t be utilized in large scale productions until the early 20th century when the first electric arc furnaces were developed. Today, most Chrome producers work as integrated plants, bringing the mine and the processing plant for the alloy production into close proximity. This production structure can be found in South Africa and India. China’s production of Chrome products relies on imports of Chrome ore. The largest exporters of Chrome ore are South Africa, Turkey, and also Pakistan, Oman, Brazil.
