Magnesium has been used commercially in the USA and Europe since the end of the 19th century. Magnesium is a strong yet lightweight metal used in the production of Steel and Aluminum ingots. Typical consumers of Magnesium are the automobile industry and the beverages can industry. A typical soda can consists of about 5% Magnesium. Today, the main source of Magnesium is China with about 75% of global production. Magnesium is traditionally produced in ingot form of approximately 7kg each. Typical Chinese grades have 99.9% Magnesium content.
